India will get 8 new flying training academies by Dec 2021.
Amber Dubey, Joint Secretary at Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India Congratulated Airports Authority of India (AAI) for successfully bidding out 8 slots at its 5 airports.

Congratulations to Airports Authority of India (AAI) for successfully bidding out 8 slots at its 5 airports – Belagavi, Jalgaon, Kalaburagi, Khajuraho and Lilabari.

Award letters were released on 31 May 2021 to the winning bidders – Asia-Pacific, Jetserve, Redbird, Samvardhane and Skynex.
Some had warned that AAI should postpone the bid by a year given the mayhem caused by covid.

The results show that India’s long-term aviation story is intact. The aviators always bounce back, stronger than before.

These five airports have been carefully chosen since they have minimal disruption due to weather issues and civil/ military air traffic.

Minimum annual rentals were dropped by AAI from several crores to just 15 lacs and the concept of airport royalty was scrapped to make the ventures business-friendly.
Another baby step to help India double its flying training capacity under Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan and become a global training hub.
