South Western Railway has improved the width of road and length of lifting barrier of Level Crossing Gate No. 380(Tilakwadi Gate No.4) at Belagavi for smooth movement of traffic. This Tilakwadi Gate No. 380 is the busiest Railway Gate at Belagavi.
Earlier the width of road was 4.8 m and length of gate boom barrier was 7.5 m. After the improvement and widening work, road with is now 10.2 m and length of gate boom barrier 12 m respectively. Shri Suresh Angadi, Hon’ble Minister of State of Railways has instructed Railway to take up work. As the road is an important Road connecting to Panaji, heavy traffic is always observed at this gate. This gate was earlier a bottleneck for traffic movement.
In the view of safety, Road humps / speed breakers of 125 mm were provided on both ends of widened road for a width of 2 m. Existing signal/electrical posts shifted suitably, to accommodate widening. Check rail provided for 12 m length and Rail fencing is also provided at the approach road of LC. Medians on either side of LC duly bifurcating road width, for enabling directional movement. Road strips painted on the edge of road with Cat eye for better visibility and guidance to road users.
Belagavi Public have welcomed this widening and positive feedback is being received from the users.
Construction of Road Over Bridge in lieu of this gate is a sanctioned work. Work is awarded by Railway and will begin once the site is made available by Civic Administration.
Surprised to read 4th gate to be the busiest in Belgaum.
The report has certainly not seen daily multiple traffic jams at gate 1, 2 and 3
You mean THIRD GATE at CONGRESS ROAD or the one beside KLE Engineering College ?
I have not heard of 4th gate in Belgaum.
It connects Angol n Industrial Estate, It’s near KLE engineering college.
As told it’s not busiest level crossing.
iiird gate is busiest, which connects entire city towards Goa,n all southern towns n cities.
As already mentioned by others, it is certainly not the busiest of railway gates. 3rd gate has more traffic compared to other gates.
