Chief Minister of Goa Pramod Sawant said the Goa government may soon stop procurement of vegetables from Belagavi.
Swant who was speaking at a function on natural farming underlined the need for the state to be self-sufficient in vegetable production.
The CM added further, that each state has to be self-sufficient in all the ways possible be it vegetables, fruits, milk etc.
A major supply of vegetables to Goa invariably comes from Belagavi; in fact, Goa is entirely dependent on Belagavi for the procurement of their daily need of vegetables of 300-400 MT per day.
Sawant added further that the corporation is likely to stop purchasing vegetables from Belagavi to boost local production of vegetables in the coming days.
Very good. Its good they become self reliant.
But what about Belgaum’s farmers?
