The state government employees registered their protest by striking work on Thursday even after several warnings by the State government. Employees belonging different grades have decided to abstain from work to seek pay scale on a par with that of Union government employees.
Several offices, including the office of the Department of Public Instruction, wore a deserted look. The striking employees gathered outside their respective offices and raised slogans in support of their demands.
Presently, the salary gap between Group ‘A’ and Group ‘D’ employees of the Central and State government is 80 per cent and 40 per cent, respectively.
