Rajhunsgad or Yellurgad (Yellur Fort) on the hillock with a breathtaking view will now get a grand statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

TOI reports, The Kannada and culture department sanctioned Rs 50 lakh for installing the statue. From the fort, around 2,500ft above sea level, one can see Belagavi city and even parts of Savadatti and Bailhongal taluks with binoculars.

According to MLA Laxmi Hebbalkar, she had sought Rs 1 crore for the statue project, which also includes infrastructure development at the spot like installing high-mast lights. The government approved only half the required amount for the project I’ve decided to make a committee of leaders of all communities to raise funds for the statue. I believe people of every community will help. I’ll also contribute through my MLA funds, adds TOI.

    • Do you call yourself a doctor without having the knowledge of the significance of Shiv Chatrapati in Indian history?

Dude, Shivaji Maharaj was and never is of a particular state or any clan and does Rani Channamma. Remember, Karnataka wasn’t even existing when he was alive.
