A slaughter house is planned on grasslands of Mallappa mountain in Hire Bagewadi Gram panchayat limits, the villagers protested against the setting up of this slaughter house as it would destroy the grazing ground.

State govt had cleared setting up of two slaughterhouses, one in Bengaluru Rural and the other in Hire Bagewadi in Belagavi district.

It was rare sight as both political rivals Patil and Hebbalkar were together for a same cause, it may be recalled that Patil had defeated Hebbalkar in the last elections and both the leaders have been in involved in public spats as well.
