Hundreds protest for installation of a statue of Sangolli Rayanna at Peeranwadi

On Saturday the police foiled attempt to install Sangolli Rayanna’s statue at Peeranwadi village in the wee hours of the morning.

The police then had said the group which wished to install the statue did not have any clearances from the Govt.

Hundreds took out a protest march today demanding the installation of the statue of freedom fighter Krantiveer Sangollli Rayanna.

During the protest, social distancing went for a toss and many were not seen wearing masks.

The massive protest rally from Congress Road ended at the DC office. Protesters today urged the District Collector to grant permission to the statue to install the statue of Rayanna at the Peranavadi.

  1. Stupidity at its height. Tell government to build hospitals rather than statues of dead people. Build schools, universities, hospitals and not these statues. Ask yourself if I am wrong here.

  2. It’s not necessary now. They can build anytime they want. It’s time to tackle flood and covid. I don’t think statues will control covid and flood

  3. With due regards to one of the greatest freedom fighters Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna, it would have been more sensible if the same vigour was shown in demanding good schools or hospital in Peeranwadi area. Such institutions or public facilities can also be named after Rayanna.

  4. I asked myself, in fact observed carefully and realized that when viewed from the “Left” you are correct. But alas ! left side always distorts normal views.
