Illicit Liquor-hooch Manufacturing Unit busted in Belagavi

Police Commissioner Belagavi, Mr. S. N. Siddaramappa IPS, led a successful operation today on February 24th, 2024, at 6 a.m., following a tip-off. Under his guidance, Rohan Jagadish IPS, DCP Law & Order, ACP Crime Branch, ACP Belagavi Rural Sub Division, and PI CCB, Kakati, along with over 100 personnel from CAR & Rural Sub Division, Kakati Police Station, descended upon Sonatti Village limits.

The operation targeted an illicit liquor manufacturing unit, resulting in the confiscation of approximately 25 barrels and 10 aluminum containers. Furthermore, 5700 liters of fermented jaggery wash, valued at approximately 11 lakhs, were destroyed on site.

Additionally, during the raid, 40 liters of handmade illegal liquor were seized from various locations including houses, open areas, and along the canal banks. The officials also ensured the destruction of jaggery wash, a crucial component in the production of illicit liquor (hooch).

The individuals implicated in this illegal operation are Sidrai Rajakatti, Shettevva Rajkatti, Siddappa Panaguddi, and Balappa Muchandi. A case has been registered against them, and the investigation is currently ongoing.

In recognition of the efforts put forth by the officers involved in the operation, the Police Commissioner has announced a reward of ₹25,000.
