Importers/Exporters meet was organised by District Administration, District Industries Centre, Chamber of Commerce & Industries in Association with Mormugao port trust, Goa.
Belgaum district is the second largest district in Karnataka in terms of area is perfectly poised for growth in industrial, agricultural and commercial sector. Belgaum district boasts of about more than 40 export oriented units in CI castings, Auto- components Aerospace components, Industrial valves, Engineering, Textiles etc.,
The district has salubrious climate and has excellent connectivity by national highway, broad gauge railway line, air service which provide easy accessibility to the rest of the country and world. Belgaum is especially close to the Mormugao port trust.
The Government of Karnataka is giving lot of focus for development of export oriented units vide its Industrial Policy 2009-14.
The Incentives are:
EXEMPTION FROM PAYMENT OF ENTRY TAX:- 100% exemption from payment of Entry Tax on plant Machinery for period of 3 years from the date of commencement of project implementation and also Entry Tax is available for operational phase on raw materials, inputs and consumables.
REFUND OF CERTIFICATION CHARGES:- Refund of expenses incurred for compulsory marking certificates viz., C.E & C.C.C.( China compulsory Certificate) is available to the extent of 50% of Expenses subject to maximum of Rs. 2.00 lakhs.
The Belgaum district has emerged as a major hub of exports from industrial sector. Major exports are Aluminium powder, Cotton yarn, T-shirt, Turkisk towels, Helmets, Sugar, Granite, C.I. castings, Hydraulic equipments, Auto spares, Precision toolings etc.,
Belgaum needs container depot with permanent working facilities. Belgaum is ideal for Floriculture & resin activity as well. The export oriented units should make use of the schemes and infrastructure facilities of the Mormugao port trust, Goa effectively to increase export/import and thereby contributing to the growth of economy of the nation and this region in particular.
