There is a strong public demand for the construction of a district stadium with the largest area in Belagavi district. It is crucial to provide our sportspeople with a platform to represent our country at the international level. Recognizing this need, the Minister of Youth Empowerment, Sports Department, and Scheduled Tribes Welfare Department, B. Nagendra, has instructed officials to develop a plan for the construction of a new district stadium at Ramtheerth Nagar in Belagavi.
During an inspection of the proposed site near the HESCOM grid at Ramtheerth Nagar in Belagavi, Minister Nagendra expressed his satisfaction with the site chosen by the district administration and the concerned department. He emphasized the importance of creating a comprehensive plan for the stadium’s construction and urged officials to discuss it with the district in-charge minister before proceeding.
Belagavi district boasts the highest number of sportspersons, making the construction of this stadium a significant development. It will greatly benefit our young athletes and provide them with the necessary facilities to excel in their respective sports.
To accommodate the stadium, the Belgaum Urban Development Authority has already allocated 9 acres and 20 acres of land. Minister Nagendra further directed officials to identify an additional 6 acres of land for parking arrangements.
By fulfilling this demand for a district stadium, we are not only meeting the desires of the public but also investing in the future of our sports community. This project will undoubtedly contribute to the growth and success of our talented athletes, enabling them to shine on the international stage.
