The first meeting of the Belagavi Urban Development Authority (BUDA) under President Asif Sait has cleared a series of important development proposals, including an IT park, a 100-bed hospital, women’s gyms, welfare facilities and lake development works.
One of the major decisions is the reservation of 24 acres of land in Kanabargi for the proposed IT park. The project is proposed to be developed in three phases and is aimed at creating a dedicated space for the IT sector in Belagavi.
The meeting also approved a proposal for a 100-bed hospital on 18 guntas of land at Kumaraswamy Layout, with an estimated project cost of ₹25 crore.
A welfare hall and commercial complex at RamTeertha Nagar has also been approved at an estimated cost of ₹3 crore, aimed at providing additional public facilities in the area.
BUDA has further decided to allocate ₹11 crore for the development of two lakes, one at Sahyadri Nagar and another at Muddenatti.
Another key proposal is the establishment of three women’s gyms at different locations in Belagavi, with ₹3 crore allocated for the project.
Taken together, the decisions cleared at the first BUDA meeting under Asif Sait cover several areas of urban development, from employment-generating infrastructure and healthcare to public amenities, recreation and lake rejuvenation.
Asif Sait has previously been pressing for an IT park in Belagavi as well, making the reservation of 24 acres at Kanabargi a significant step towards taking the proposal forward.
