Kapileshwar priest beaten – his sister throws acid

Kapileshwar temple Belagavi, is known as the Kashi of the south saw some unruly scenes on Monday night when the priest Rama Pujari was beaten up and also paraded semi nude from the temple premises by a group of youths.

Now the Deccan Chronicle reports – The priest, Ram Pujari, had flouted orders from the temple trust, which said he was not to conduct night-time rituals on the premises. Pujari, however, would do so often. Late on Monday night, he objected to a group of devotees who happened to be cleaning the premises.

Times Now reports – The incident occurred at the Kapileshwar temple premises after the priest continued his inappropriate behavior with women despite repeated warnings.

After this incident the sister of the priest came to the scene and threw acid on the attackers of her brother, which further enraged the situation.

Some of the youths were injured in the acid attack and Pujari was handed over to the police and later to taken to hospital as he has sustained minor injuries.

Four persons including three women have been arrested in this case.
