Housing and urban development minister U T Khader in a reply in the assembly said, he would take steps to set up separate office exclusively for ‘Smart City’ projects.
The Smart City project is a 50:50 Central and State government project where both have released ₹886 crore each, totaling₹1,772 crore. At the end of two years, the State government being the implementing authority has spent ₹91.34 crore, the minister added.
Belagavi has been allocated 396 crore in the past two years.
K S Eshwarappa rasied question on government’s progress in implementing the ‘Smart Cit’y programme. He added in most places the SPV is headed by the Corporation Commissioner who is already over loaded with work and hence can’t give much time.
Recently, the Belagavi Smart city limited did gets its first time full MD in the form Ziaullah but he too was deputed on Election duty.
