KLE ENGINEERING STUDENTS WIN SMART INDIA HACKATHON 2019

The students of KLE Dr. M. S. Sheshgiri College of Engineering and Technology, Belagavi won the first prize in the recently conducted Smart India Hackathon (SIH-2019) competition organised by the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) and Ministry of HRD, Govt of India.

Smart India Hackathon 2019 was a nationwide initiative to provide students a platform to solve some of pressing problems we face in our daily lives, and thus inculcate a culture of product innovation and a mindset of problem solving.

In SIH 2019, the students got an opportunity to work on challenges faced within the private sector organisations and create world class solutions for some of the top companies in the world, thus helping the Private sector hire the best minds from across the nation.

kleThe students presented their project titled, Start up Ecosystem tracker at Indian Institute of Technology-IIT, Kanpur and won the event. Mr. Akhil, Mr. Aftab, Miss. Pooja, Miss Pramila, Miss Mahalaxmi, Miss Basamma under the mentorship and guidance of Prof. Uttam Patil, Prof. Vidya H. & Prof. Shashidhar H. Achieved this feat. The students were awarded a Cash prize of Rs 75000/-.

Also Mr. Sanket, Mr. Avinash, Mr. Saikumar, Mr.Akash, MissNamrata, Miss Soumya presented their project titled Daily update on Construction site progress at Raj Kumar Goel Institute of Technology, Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh and won a consolation prize under the mentorship and guidance of Prof. Tejas Doshi, Prof. Chandrashekar Kuri and Prof. Komal Kattimani.

Principal, Dr. Basavaraj Katageri said that it is a matter of pride and prestige that students of our institute have competed with participants from IITs, NITs and other premier institutes to achieve this feat. He said that innovations in learning and Activity based learning initiatives adopted by the institute have been the reason for this success. He also elaborated that the new initiatives where students can apply their engineering knowledge with practice will be initiated soon in the form of learning factory and social innovation projects for solving social issues.
