KMV Projects was declared the lowest bidder for the civil construction work of a new terminal building at Belagavi Airport on Friday.
The current domestic terminal at Belagavi Airport, managed by the Airports Authority of India (AAI), has a built-up area of 3,600 sq.m and can accommodate up to 300 passengers during peak hours. Its apron can handle 6 narrow-body aircraft, such as the B737 and A320.
Belagavi Airport New Terminal
The new terminal, which will be equipped with 4 aerobridges, will significantly increase the airport’s handling capacity to 2,400 passengers during peak hours (1,200 arrivals and 1,200 departures). Once operational, the existing terminal will be repurposed to manage arrivals. According to AAI’s consultants, Landrum and Brown, this expansion will enable the airport to meet the traffic demand of 2.0 million passengers per annum (mppa) until 2037.
In November 2023, AAI invited tenders for the civil construction contract of the project, estimating it to cost Rs. 265.04 crore and have a completion deadline of 2 years. In December 2023, the technical bids were opened, revealing a total of 7 bidders.
