A family from Bihar, stranded overnight in the Shiroli forest of Khanapur taluka after relying on faulty GPS directions, was rescued by the swift action of the Khanapur police. The Das family, on their way to Goa from Ujjain, expressed gratitude to the police for ensuring their safety and guiding them back on their journey.
Rajdas Ranjitadas and his family lost their way on Wednesday (4th) night while following GPS directions, which led them deep into the Shiroli forest. With no mobile network and no way to navigate out, the frightened family spent the entire night in their car.
At dawn, the family managed to call the emergency helpline 112 after finding a spot with minimal connectivity. The Khanapur police swiftly responded, with Assistant Sub-Inspector K.I. Badigar and officer Jairam Hanmanawar tracing the family using their live location. Traveling 31 kilometers through forested terrain, the officers located the stranded car and reassured the family.
Upon reaching the scene, the police offered food and support to the distressed family. After ensuring their well-being, the officers guided them back onto the correct route to Goa. The Das family thanked the police for their timely intervention, praising their professionalism and kindness.
The Khanapur police are receiving widespread appreciation for their exemplary response and readiness to assist.
