There was a mild lathi charge to disperse a group of Shiv Sena activists gathered in Maruti Galli and their local leader Prakash Shirolkar has been taken into custody. Police had to resort to Lathi charge after a few Shiv Sainiks were forcing people to shut shop.

All shops in Maruti Galli are closed majority of them and a few on Kirloaskar road as well. But the rest of the market is normal as it is.

The Shiv Sena Belgaum has requested all to assemble at 9 am on Sunday at Dharmveer Sambhaji Chowk to pay homage to Shiv Sena supremo Balasaheb Thackrey. They have also requested all commercial establishments to remain closed.
Marathi outfits including Maharashtra Ekikaran Samithi (MES), Shiv Sena and Hindu organisations have called for a bandh in the district on Sunday to mourn the death of Shiv Sena leader Bal Thackeray.

  1. a bundh in the name of a person who has sown the seeds of hatred between 2 communities that have co-existed so well and peacefully for several centuries… am shocked..

      • this is exactly the basis on which the police arrested the women questioning this bundh. the man who adored hitler to the core, did not surprise by copying the same language and hatred. atleast hitler invested in technology that has made germany retain the top stop for engineering even today.. what has this man contributed to the society or mankind that he deserves a bandh? the indian flag on his body is a national shame?
