Mild Stone pelting at Belagavi

The Police have increased security measures in Fort road, Patil galli and surrounding areas of Belagavi city on Monday, in response to an incident of stone pelting between two groups.

The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of the Market police station. According to the police, the incident took place when a group of young individuals organized a rally, chanting slogans of ‘Jai Shri Ram’ following the Pran Prathistha ceremony in Ayodhya on Monday.

Suddenly, the group was subjected to a stone attack. In response, the targeted group of youths fought back against the assailants. To regain control of the situation, the police resorted to a lathi charge. As a result of the police intervention, the groups involved in the stone pelting dispersed.

The Market police are currently collecting CCTV footage to identify the individuals responsible for the stone pelting. As a precautionary measure, two platoons of the Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP) have been deployed at sensitive locations.

Further investigation into the incident is ongoing.

The police have asked citizens not to forward any message on social media without confirming the same.
