Minister of State in the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Shri K. C. Venugopal informed the Rajya Sabha on August 27, 20103 that the Government of Karnataka has acquired 370 acres of land for the development of Belgaum airport and handed over the same to Airports Authority of India(AAI) for development of runway extension, basic strip, construction of a new apron with taxiway, new passenger and cargo terminal and other infrastructure facilities. Belgaum airport is a civil airport belonging to AAI.
