In a tragic discovery on Saturday morning, the bodies of a mother and her son were found in Argan Lake, near the Vinayak temple on Hindalga Road, Belagavi. The police investigation has since revealed that the two had died by suicide, reportedly due to ongoing domestic abuse.
The military administration first noticed the bodies floating in the lake and immediately alerted local authorities. Upon receiving the report, officers from the Camp Police Station, along with volunteers from the HERF and Facebook Friends Circle organizations, including Basavaraj Hiremath, Santosh Darekar, and Avadhoot Tudvekar, rushed to the scene to assist in recovering the bodies.
A suicide note found with the victims identified them as Kavita Baswant Junebelgaonkar (40) and her son, Samarth Baswant Junebelgaonkar (14), residents of Kalkhamb.
The incident has been registered at the Camp Police Station, where further investigations are underway.
