The construction of the new terminal building at Sambra Airport in Belagavi has reached its final stage and is expected to be inaugurated within the next two months, according to Belagavi MP Jagadish Shettar.

Speaking after inaugurating the Yatra Suvidha Diwas programme at the airport, Shettar said the commissioning of the new terminal would pave the way for enhanced air connectivity and the introduction of additional flight services.

He said efforts are underway to bring more airlines and increase the number of flights connecting Belagavi with major metropolitan cities across the country. Discussions have already been held with several airline operators, and the expansion of services is expected once the new terminal becomes operational.

Shettar also noted that the aviation sector has been facing challenges due to global conflicts, which have impacted flight operations and fuel availability. However, he expressed optimism that the industry would regain momentum once the prevailing international situation stabilises.
