State Election Commissioner (SEC) P.N. Srinivasachari announced the calendar of events for the ULB polls on Thursday. He said the notification for the polls would be issued on May 9, but this does not include Belagavi city corporation as cases are pending in the high court over delimitation and reservation.
The term of the Belagavi city corporation has already ended but due to cases pertaining to them are before the High Court elections are not been held currently here.
Elections can only be held after the High court makes an order.
Elections to 63 ULBs — eight city municipal councils (CMCs), 33 town municipal councils (TMCs), and 22 town panchayats — will be held on May 29.
