Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa has spoken to PM Narendra Modi today and the status quo in Karnataka will remain unchanged for now. No lockdown or curfew has been announced.

Appealing to the public, the CM said that there is no need for anybody to panic as the state government is taking all measures to contain the spread of the virus.

There is video going viral in Karnataka of the CM announcing lockdown & shutting down of malls, officers schools colleges etc due to COVID19 . This is a video from last year, refrain from forwarding and spreading false info.

In order to prevent and mitigate the second wave of Covid-19, the daily target of tests in the state has been increased to 1 lakh.

Yediyurappa further said that the state government has sought permission from the center to take up vaccination in apartment complexes, old age homes and inaccessible terrains across the state.

The positivity rate has increased in districts like Bidar, Kalaburagi, Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural, Udupi Tumakuru, and Dakshina Kannada. Experts see this as an indication of the COVID-19 second wave. The technical advisory committee has advised strict enforcement of measures to contain the spread of COVID-19.
