This is to inform you that Belagavi is all set to host the forthcoming NRJ KLE University State Sub-Junior and Junior championship 2022 from 25th to 29th May 2022, this event will be organized collectively by KLE University, Karnataka Swimming Association (KSA) and local organisation which is Swimmers Club Belgaum.
This is the first time an event of this magnitude will be conducted in the city of Belagavi and we are expecting future Olympians to be a part of this tournament. With an aim to promote competitive swimming in tier-II cities, the Karnataka Swimming Association will host the State Junior and Sub Junior Aquatic Championship 2022 in the state-of-the-art Suvarna JNMC Swimming Pool (Olympic Size), Belagavi.
On the onset we would like to thank Dr. Prabhakar Kore, Chairman. KLE group of Institutions for accepting to jointly host this Championship.
The Five day event will attract over 800 swimmers who will participate from 30 registered and recognised clubs all over Karnataka, during the above championship, the selected swimmers will then participate in the respective All India Nationals which will be held in Rajkot and Bhuvneshwar respectively. Over 70 technical officials will play a huge role in smooth conducting of the events and make it a grand success.
“Karnataka Swimming Association is closely working with tier-II cities to develop swimming and unearth talent who can be groomed for the future. Taking this marquee state championship to a city like Belgaum will help promote the sport in that city which has always shown great potential in the sport,” stated Gopal B Hosur, President, Karnataka State Association (KSA).
“Watching top Indian swimmers participate, will motivate young children of that region. Moreover, the infrastructure is excellent in Belgaum and it is important to provide swimmers a good experience,” Hosur added.
KSA will be hosting many National and International Meets in the days to come at Belagavi and will make it the next hub city of swimming in the state, and we look forward for constant support from KLE University for hosting the same.
Top Indian swimmers Utkarsh Patil, Ridhima V, Dhinidhi D, Nina Venkatesh will represent their respective clubs. Among swimmers to watch out for are Pavan D, Vidith Shankar, Shivank Viswanath, Surya Joyappa and Aksya in Group I boys. In Group I girls, Vihitha Nayana, Meenkshi, Hashika R, Manvi Varma, Dhinidhi D and Nayan Vignesh are top draw.
In group II girls, Ashmita Chandra, Shirin, Latesha Mandanna, Saanvi S, Anway and Linesha AK are expected to do well. Among Group II boys, Dhakshan, Dharshan, Kushal K, Yash Karthik and Akshaj Thakuria are expected to shine.
This JNMC swimming pool is an Olympic Size infrastructure wherein we are fully capable of holding a large event of this scale. During the event we would be having electron touch pads and system to capture the timings and results of the each event accurately. Also there will be a live screening and broadcasting of all the events on real time basis.
The State Championship will be held in the following Age Groups in Swimming, events for Boys & Girls:-
AGE GROUPS (SWIMMING)
GP – I Boys & Girls 15, 16 & 17 yrs. (Born in the yrs. 2005, 2006 & 2007)
GP – II Boys & Girls 12, 13 & 14 yrs. (Born in the yrs. 2008, 2009 & 20010)
GP – III Boys & Girls 10-11 yrs. (Born in the year 2011 & 2012)
All swimming events of 400 m. and above will be held on Time Trials basis and 50’s, 100’s and 200’s will be conducted as heats and finals in the evening sessions. 4 x 50 and 4 x 100 Relay events will also be held in the evening session. 4 x 200 m. Relay events will be held in the morning session.
KLE University has been generous enough to be a part of this mega event and with its dynamic infrastructure under the guidance of Dr. Prabhakar Kore Ji, it is possible to conduct the event in efficient manner.
The Opening Ceremony will be conducted on the evening of 26th of May at the auspicious hands of various dignitaries and the Closing ceremony will be held on the 29th of May 2022 wherein we would be declaring the various Individual and team champions in respective age categories.
