The employees of road transport corporations NWKRTC, KSRTC, NEKRTC etc are on a strike on wage related issues from April 7.
The employees in the Belagavi district also launched the indefinite strike, where students and commuters were forced to take alternatives such as Autos to reach their destinations.
The bus stand was full of minis bus, taxis etc which were trying to fill in the gap and were charging on a higher side.
Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa has warned of strict action against striking employees of State transport undertakings if they did not resume work in one or two days.
We have agreed to eight of the nine demands of the employees. But they are adamantly holding on to the one demand of considering them as government employees and giving them pay commission scales. This is not possible as we are suffering from severe financial constraint.
This is ridiculous way to protest. In this only common people suffer.
