In a generous effort to clear backlogged cases, the Karnataka Transport Department has announced a 50% rebate on pending traffic challans in the state. This one-time offer will only be granted to violators if they pay the fines by February 11.
Pushpa VS, the Under Secretary of the Transport Department, issued the order on e-challans that are booked for traffic violations caught on traffic surveillance cameras in the city.
The decision to offer a rebate on e-challan fines was taken during a meeting on January 27, chaired by Justice B Veerappa, the executive chairman of Karnataka State Legal Services Authority. The meeting resolved to request the Transport Department to take steps at the earliest and report compliance to ensure ‘access to justice for all’.
Those wishing to take advantage of this rebate can pay their fines by visiting the respective police stations in their area or through the Karnataka One portal. Don’t miss out on this one-time opportunity to save 50% on your traffic fines!
