To encourage house-owners to pay their property tax early, the Belagavi city corporation has come out with an ‘early bird’ scheme. Citizens, who pay property tax for 2020-21 without any previous year arrears before April 30 of this year also will be given a rebate of 5 percent.

People who pay their tax before this month-end, corporation will provide a 5 percent rebate on the current demand. After April 30, the scheme will lapse and people cannot avail of the tax concession.

But the tax hike is up to 30% and with a 5% rebate, it seems to be a 25% hike since the previous year’s payment.

The tax rebate will not be applicable to those citizens who no have pending arrears of previous years’ dues.

30 percent hike is too much.
Wherefrom the retired people bring money.
The flats can not be rented out also so easily and the rent rates too have fallen in the market.
    5% hike is acceptable.

There is also a service charge for residential properties. It’s amounts to another 30%. That means a whopping 60% hike. No roads, no cleanliness, no street lights and service charge.

All business are shutdown. Vendors to Industrialist financially handicaped. They don’t have even pay of the staff, KEB bill, EMI to Banker etc. etc. It is not justifying to increase property tax. Central, State governments Banker s, have given stay for increasing rates. Consider this on Humanity ground or else we have to approach proper higher Authorities or Court of Law.
