Police resorted to Lathi charge to disperse the crowd at Peeranwadi circle after a huge crowd gathered at the place where the statue of Sangolli Rayanna has been installed.
Another group opposed this as a Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj statue stands in the vicinity since 1990s and the circle according to them is named after Chattarapati Shivaji Maharaj.
