CM Basavraj Bommai today said the expert’s committee will discuss whether to give permission to hold a grand Kannada Rajyotsava procession in Belagavi.

The government has not permitted any procession due to Covid in the state, Bommai added.

Due to the pandemic, processions have been banned for the last two years. Therefore, the Rajyotsav procession was not taken out to Belagavi last year.

The district administration has given permission to celebrate Rajyotsav on a grand scale this year too. However, the procession has not been allowed yet.

Therefore, Kannada organizations have tried to put pressure on the government by launching a campaign to allow to hold a grand procession.

If political gatherings, Dussehra celebrations are allowed then why Rajyotsav processions are not allowed?

The pro-Marathi groups observe the Rajyotsava Day as Black Day during which they take out a march. However, the district administration has imposed a ban on Black day this year because of Covid.
