The Belagavi police have arrested five persons alleged to be involved in the murder of a factory worker last Tuesday.
The 53-year-old Yallappa G of Mutyanhatti village was killed over an old rivalry the police said.
The brother of the deceased had filed a complaint at Kakti Police station against Santosh Kemp, Siddappa Kemp, Ishwar Halbhavi, Ravi Kumbargi, and Vivek Naik.
DCP Crime and DCP Law order looked into the case laid a trap to catch the accused.
Last Friday, when Yallappa was his way to the factory for night duty the five accused reportedly stopped him near Barde Dhaba on the outskirts of Kakati village. They abused him, which lead to a verbal clash. The accused who had come prepared, at-tacked him with a sword and sickle allegedly killed him on the spot. On receiving a tip of & Kakati CPI Shrishail Koujalagi and his team caught the accused at Belagavi Railway Station around 4 am on Tuesday. Police recovered the sword, sickle, and motorcycle that they used in the murder.Â
