Many things are wrought by prayers – is the famous quote of Lord Alfred Tennyson. Seeking divine intervention from the scourge of extended summer, the Mayor, Dy.Mayor and the Commissioner conducted special prayers at Kapileshwar Mandir on Monday to appease the rain god. Prayers were held at other temples as well.
In rural areas, villagers hold ritual marriages of frogs to appease Varuna, the rain god. The frogs are dressed as bride and groom and taken in a procession in the village.
The Water board has issued a notification asking each one to make judicious use of water and not to waste water. Every citizen must get the tap repaired if it is leaking which will save precious water from going into the drains. Motors should be attached to the water lines. Citizen should not make use of Drinking water for washing cars/automobiles etc.
