A special committee has been appointed by the Secretary Govt of Karnataka who have the task to give surprise checks at all the Urban local bodies and check the quality of works undertaken.
The said team was in Belagavi on Tuesday and they first visited the City corporation and surprised all the staff and then had a look at the files of the various works undertaken and then selected the Ramlingkhind Galli road work and inspected the said road.
They drilled a small part of the road and examined the road quality. They said they were very happy with the standard of work under taken at that particular road which was done by contractor BALKRISHNA G GODSE at a sum of Rs.4,56,29,133.54.
The above amount also includes some part of Raviwar Peth as it was clubbed with a single tender.
Sources also say that the visiting team took to task the local officials involved with the works and they were unable to answer many technical questions asked by the team.
