Top-level domestic red-ball cricket will once again be in the spotlight in Belagavi, with the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) Stadium set to host a Ranji Trophy Elite Group B fixture between Karnataka and Chhattisgarh in January 2027.
According to the published 2026–27 Ranji Trophy schedule, the four-day match is scheduled from January 17 to 20, 2027, with play beginning at 9:30 AM IST each day. Karnataka will take on Chhattisgarh as part of the second phase of the league stage.
The fixture will give Belagavi another opportunity to watch Karnataka’s top domestic players in action at the KSCA Stadium, which has increasingly become an important venue for high-level cricket outside Bengaluru.
The Belagavi ground is not new to Ranji Trophy cricket. It made its first-class debut during the 2016–17 season, when it hosted two Ranji Trophy matches involving Gujarat. Gujarat played Punjab from November 29 to December 2, 2016, before taking on Tamil Nadu from December 7 to 10.
The stadium subsequently hosted Karnataka’s Ranji Trophy match against Mumbai in November 2018, when Karnataka secured a substantial first-innings lead after scoring 400.
More recently, the Belagavi stadium reached another significant milestone when it hosted the 2025–26 Ranji Trophy final between Karnataka and Jammu & Kashmir in February 2026.
The return of a league-stage Ranji Trophy fixture to Belagavi in the 2026–27 season underlines the KSCA’s continued use of venues beyond Bengaluru for premier domestic cricket. Karnataka’s 2026–27 Ranji campaign also includes fixtures at other regional centres, including Mysuru.
For cricket followers in Belagavi, the January fixture will be an opportunity to see a full four-day Ranji Trophy contest featuring Karnataka on home turf.
