Rs 20 crore will be used to develop 10 locations visited by Babasaheb Ambedkar and five others.
The state government has identified 10 places across the state for development, which were visited by Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, including Belagavi.
On December 26th, 1939, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar was welcomed to Belgaum (now Belagavi) by the Mayor, Mr. Bhimrao Potdar, who presented him with a memento.
This month, Chief Minister Basavraj Bommai will lay the foundation stone for the first development project in Belagavi, with the government has set aside Rs. 20 crores for the development of the 10 locations.
Dr. Ambedkar stayed in Kangral Galli for a day on December 26th, 1939, as the guest of the Vastvadkar family. The current resident of the same place has been asked by various organizations to convert it into a museum.
Rs. 51 were spent on the function organized by the Municipality to honor Dr. Ambedkar with a bronze memento. He was also there to address the Bar Association.
