Scholarships distributed to meritorious underprivileged school girls

There was a time when people thought that it was not necessary to educate girls. Now we have begun to realize that girls’ education is essential. The modern age is the age of awakening of girls. Education is a boon to girls especially the financially backward in this age of economic crisis.

waghvadeA group of social workers under the banner of Siddakala Balsanskar Kendra (SBK) at Waghavde village in Belagavi taluk on Sunday had this thought of encouraging meritorious girls who are underprivileged and it is a major cause of drop outs in villages.

Preeti Dodwad, Coordinator, KLE Society International Schools on the occasion opined that

Education gives a woman freedom of thought and empowers her to become economically independent. She is the spine of the society and a educated woman can create better prospects for her children and in turn the whole society.

35 meritorious girls were given scholarships for their tremendous efforts they had to take to reach the current stage.
Social workers – Roopa Dange, Nisha Kosandal, Janvi Vernekar and others also spoke.

Each scholarship, which provided yearly fee of Rs 500 along with books, bag and uniform, amounts to about Rs 3000. Mahesh Foundation donated 35 school bags to the meritorious students. Whereas donors sponsoring scholarships comprised social workers including Nisha, Arundatti, a medical Student and others.
