Considering the massive response to Voluntary Compliance Encouragement Scheme (VCES) for service tax, the Department of Customs Central Excise and Service Tax has decided to keep the office open till midnight of December 31 for accepting applications.
The offices have been open beyond the working hours and now on the last day the forms will be accepted till midnight. Designated bank branches will be open till 6pm on December 31 for making payments. Those wanting to avail the scheme will have to first pay at least 50% of the declared service tax due by December 31.
