Shuttle bus service to Airport a must now

With the introduction of the Flight to Delhi by Spicejet, the long waiting demand for a direct flight to Delhi has been fulfilled.

Along with this, the airport will now handle the Boeing 737 for which it was expanded years ago.

At present, Belagavi Airport is connected with 12 major cities (Bengaluru, Mysuru, Kadapa, Tirupati, Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Nasik, Hyderabad, Indore, Surat & Jodhpur) by 05 Airlines i.e M/s. Alliance Air, Spicejet, Star Air, Indigo & Trujet.

Now the AAI and the NWKRTC must rethink starting shuttle bus services to Airport from the city.

In 2017 the NWKRTC had commenced such a service 2017 but had to shut operations with no takers and also reduced flights.

In 2019 another similar service was commenced but was closed mid-way. The Volvo B7R Low floor bus / Volvo Airawat will ply from Udyambag to Airport via Kittur Rani Chennama Circle- CBT.

Out of the 5 daily trips, 3 will commence and end at CBT while one will end at Udyambag and one at Railway station, and the Maximum fare then was ₹ 100/-.

With so many destinations NWKRTC must think to deploy buses may be new AC Buses on this Airport Shuttle route which will also help in increasing the travelers as most of them have issues to reach the Airport as only a private taxi is the only source.

In order to increase competition and bring down transport prices, Airports Authority of India is operationalized a rent-a-cab counter at Goa International Airport, similar steps must be taken at the Belagavi airport as well.

Belagavi airport must also provide such facilities. The moves are part of an effort by AAI to provide air passengers with cheaper and multiple options for transport once they exit the airport.

It would be very beneficial for the travelers if they can get cheaper options to reach the airport as of now it would roughly cost Rs.600+ for a taxi for a drop to the airport.

There is another line of thought which says when the travelers spent so much to travel by Air why can’t he or shell out for a taxi or an Auto. But when you want the Aam Nagrik to fly arrangements for him are important.

We do have the OLA service but it is very limited and as there are bus services in Bengaluru, we should also have one which will help more Aam Nagrik to take their UDAN.

  1. Yes a shuttle bus service is required as more more flights service started to n from belgaum it would be good for KSRTC to start between different routes in belgaum to help the people to reduce the dependency on only taxis ie from airport to bus stand ,railway station, other prominent areas

I hope the MP and MLA’s need to take decision and ensure the bus service from belgaum airport to the areas mentioned above

Once start will benefit both people n KSRTC
