Six persons were nabbed in connection with illegal possession of wild owl and leopard skin in separate raids conducted near Suvarna Vidhana Soudha and near Durga temple, fort area of Belagavi on Monday by the City Crime Investigation Branch (CCIB) headed by Inspector Adivesh Boodigopp.
Salim Mubarak Ali (38), Raghavendra Prasad Pai (28) of Karatagi village, Koppal district, Narayana Ganapathi Shetty (50) of Hoolikatti village, Dharawad district and Basu Channabasav Patil of Chekapur village of Haveri district were trying to sale wild owl and were nabbed on NH 4 near Suvarna Soudha. Sources say there is belief that possessing owl would bring the luck, wealth and immense power of black magic.
M Roopesh of Bengaluru and Vinod from Karwar were trying to sell leopard skin near Durga Devi Temple in the fort area, they were also nabbed by the CCIB team.
