The Belagavi city which was selected as one of the 20 smart cities in the first list is yet to make any progress in the work and the appointment of the management consultant for the Smart city project has been stalled as the digital signature pen drive has been missing, reports the Sakal daily.

As the pen drive containing the digital signature which is needed online has been not yet been traced the appointment process has been completely stalled.

Six companies had put in their tenders and the same were to be opened on October 13, but as the digital signature pen drive was not found nothing could be processed.

No Work or project has been implemented under the smart city funds received from the centre as yet

The digital signature of G Prabhu who was the commissioner earlier has gone missing and no one has been able to trace the same source said. As Prabhu was transferred to Bengaluru it is very likely that during the shifting the pen drive may have been misplaced somewhere.

  1. Looks like high level scandal & even might be some local politicians involved in this. Better investigate the scandal.
As a citizen of Belgaum i suggest that politics & politicians should not be participate like city development programme. we people should boycott them.

  2. Height of Carelessness on the part of BCC, and we residents will continue to suffer despite funds being made available for developmental works! It’s a pity that no one is held accountable in our govt for delays caused due to silly reasons as this one.
