Speakers stress on ‘digital manufacturing’ for rapid progress

BELAGAVI, May 11: Dean Frayssinet, CEO, DP Technology, USA has stressed that education was the only tool to solve the problems of the community, while the digital manufacturing had been evolved as the current trend in manufacturing technologies.

Further, he said education must lead to advancement of knowledge for growth and prosperity of the community.

 

vtu-rapidHe was speaking at the one-day ‘International seminar on Digital Manufacturing, (Smart Factory) organised by Visvesvaraya Technological University at its Jnana Sangama campus at Machhe on Thursday. The seminar was organised in association with ESPRIT, USA and DMG Mori Seiki, Japan. The main objective of the seminar was to highlight the opportunities in smart manufacturing technologies, which predominantly helped industries to be efficient and sustainable.

Apart from Dean Frayssinet, Jan Moellenhoff, Director, Mori Seiki, Japan, Elango S., Managing Director, Galaxy Machinery, Belagavi, Vijayakumar Kuchanure, Executive Council Member of VTU and Gopal Jinagouda, DGM, Oxera Precision Technology Pvt. Ltd. Belagavi were chief guests on the occasion.

VTU Vice-Chancellor Dr.Karisiddappa, Vice Chancellor of VTU, who presided over the inaugural function, said that knowledge computer, engineering economics, strength of materials and marketing strategy were essential factors to become successful manufacturer. Now, it was high time for Indian industrial sector to warm up to aggressively pursue the idea of digitisation under Digital India and Make in India programmes of Government of India.

In the present scenario, Indian Industries are going through complete transformation using new age technologies at the global level, he said and stressed on the need to boost the pace of progress.

Dr.Satish Annigeri, Registrar (Evaluation) of VTU briefed about the VTU activities to the delegates. Senior official of the host university Dr.Shivaprasad Dandagi welcomed the guests and delegates.

Over 100 delegates from different parts of the country and abroad, and representatives from leading industries of Belagavi participated in the seminar.
