On 6th October 2020 few officials from Belagavi city Corporation visited Onion Market ( Kanda market ), Raviwar peth, Belagavi and sealed the gates of the market giving threats to the occupants of the shop.
When questioned to this, the Corporation officials said that they were directed by the Commissioner City Corporation Belagavi to take possession of the property. When asked for the documents or orders for the said direction, the Corporation officials refused, hence there was no copy or any Order/ document pertaining to make this act of officials legal.
After the flat refusal of the Corporation officials the occupants could not be dispossessed from their shops. However the Corporation officials have put tin sheds to the gates so as to prevent the shop keepers from entering the premises.
There are vegetables in hundreds of Kg’s inside the premises which will be rotten if not opened on time. The said illegal act of the Corporation officials is highly objectionable and the same attract strict action against the officials which is demanded by the Shop Occupants and Social Activist Lawyer Adv. Harshvardhan Patil to the DC Belagavi. The Deputy Commissioner of Belagavi has assured that he would look into the matter.
Firstly many people have suffered in this lockdown. Somewhere the situation is little stabilizing when it comes to the business. In this situation if such illegal attempts are executed than the business will be stopped and the families of these shop keepers will be put to starvation.
Why such illegal attempts are made only on poor people and common man. There are many other necessary things to be done right in the City which the City Corporation Belagavi neglects but targets common man like always.
Roads, Toilets, Garbage, Parking.
Like wise there are many other issues where the City Corporation Belagavi should be prioritizing.
