Plans are underway to revamp the healthcare infrastructure in Belagavi with the announcement of tender bids for the construction of a new 100-bed ESI hospital. The existing 50-bed facility in Ashok Nagar, Belagavi, in dire need of repairs, will be replaced by this larger, upgraded hospital.

The estimated cost of the project stands at 152.20 Crore, with a projected completion timeframe of 30 months. This initiative aims to enhance medical services for the community and accommodate the growing healthcare needs of the region.

Belagavi, a significant contributor to the ESIC fund, currently houses over 1,20,000 individuals under ESIC coverage, primarily comprising industrial workers from the MSME sector. These workers play a vital role in the organized manufacturing sector and consistently contribute to the ESIC fund, ensuring access to healthcare benefits for themselves and their families.

ESIC, operating under the guidance of the State Government and supported by the Central Government, provides crucial insurance coverage to workers and their families, offering financial assistance for medical treatment in case of accidents or illnesses. This legal provision underscores the importance of safeguarding workers’ rights to adequate healthcare, reflecting a commitment to their well-being and welfare.
