Its a Wednesday morning around 10.30 AM, peak time all wanting to reach to office and start work as normal. I just take a turn at Gogte circle from Congress road and half of the road is blocked by the City bus. I somehow mange to go to the left and a traffic cop lands in the middle of the road to stop a biker infront of me who is not wearing a helmet.
I had to brake at sudden orelse, it would have been another news story of an accident.
There were about 2 senior cops and another 3 waiting under the shade of the tree near Desai Building levying fines for non wearing of helmets.
At this very moment a biker who was next to me (I am wearing a helmet and the other biker as well) approached the Senior cops and told him
Sir, Why dont you tell these bus drivers to stop at the designated bus stop and not just at the turn. Officer nods his head no reply.
This has been happening for so many years that the City buses never stop at the designated bus stop, God only knows why they dont?
The Traffic cops and I would like to call this offense of not wearing helmet as a soft offense when compared to other violations which cause smooth flow of traffic.
Helmets are compulsory and it is needed for ones own security, if one meets with an accident the helmet could save your life, no two thoughts on that.
But Why do the cops only see Helmets….? dont they see the city buses standing in the middle of the road or just at the turn?
Dont they see the Autos(ah they might have a soft corner for them)?
And the most important part Traffic Cops are and have to be used to ensure smooth flow of traffic but we hardly see any Traffic cop at Dharmveer Sambhaji Circle, First gate or even RPD.
We would like to make a humble request to the higher authorities in the Traffic department other than levying fines for violations please also look into other issues which will allow smooth flow of traffic.
We have always heard that there is dearth of staff in the department but yesterday we saw and we counted 4 senior officials and 4 others at Sanchayani Circle levying fines. But no one at Dharmveer Sambahji Circle to manage traffic.
We just remember this dialogue from the movie Gabar is back –
Har woh aadmi joh galat dekhkar aankhen nahi pherta … woh Gabbar hai
Joh ghoos dene waale ko ghus-ghuske maare … woh Gabbar hai …
Joh sarkari aadmi air condition room mein behatkar logon ko tang karte hai, unka pasina chhudvaye … woh Gabbar hai
aur ab humko Gabbar Banna Hai.
Simple reason. It’s all about money that can be extorted from us.
Bus drivers of government are their fellow buddies.
Traffic word it self means that to control the traffic on priority.Here it seems to be reverse
Even at 1st gate, the barricades don’t allow to go to Mandoli road,shivaji colony etc, so have seen so many commutators who want to go to other side take wrong route on the Congress road. And none of traffic police stand at first gate to fine the traffic violations done. If the police wants the people to follow the traffic rules even they have to be fair enough to all the violations made by people.
This has started because the DC himself since his posting in Belagavi cannot still insist on metre in Auto and the other Police officials are small fry,and was saying he would get himself transferred if politicians interfered.Now since 3 years Belagavi has become more lucrative for him?
Police problems increase specially after 15th of every month when the salary falls short to feed expectations… these same guys stop and make us wait some MP/MLA movement is there and rest time to come with harassment that’s it
THESE ARE THE PLUS POINTS TO MAKE BELGAUM AS SMART CITY, MORE CHECKING MORE MONEY, YOU FEEL YOU ARE IN A SMART CITY. ON THREE LANE ROADS, CITY BUSES, LONG ROOT BUSES, AUTO’S STAND IN THE MIDDLE LANE TO FACILITATE ALIGHTING AND BOARDING OF PASSENGERS., THERE BY BRINGING THE FELLOW RIDERS TO A STAND STILL , THEY ARE FORCED TO WAIT UNTIL THEY CLEAR THE DECKS.
IS ANYONE RESPONSIBLE THERE TO LOOK IN THESE MATTERS OR
ARE BUSY IN THEIR OWN WORLD.
It’s true i have witnessed many times, now a day people driving from wrong side, breaking or jumping signals have increased. All this just to save some fuel, money and few seconds or minutes of time but at the cost of others and their own life. Also the cops are silent looking at this, of rules are to be imposed they should control these first, also the over speeding HGV/HMV. It is necessary that the official get trained themselves first about the traffic violations.
On Sunday, the cops were catching vehicles on civil hospital road. So a rickshaw driver took his rickshaw on the opposite side of the road. It was so busy. My car could have hit him. It was so close and he was driving at high speed on the opposite side of the road so that cops couldn’t catch him even if they drive on left side.
They always doing acting, drama on roads. No helmet, No Rc book, NO licence. Right now they asking insurance papers in camp . After some days they going to ask amission test, after that name plate. ??????
One more thing to be noted down, whenever they fine us, why do they issue us the Challan of the previous Year Date.
