In a recurring nightmare for residents, two children, identified as Kaif Pachhapuri and Aizal Pathan, fell victim to a stray dog attack on Saturday afternoon in the Gulmohar Colony of New Gandhinagar, Belagavi. The severity of the attack left one boy seriously wounded, while the other sustained minor injuries, prompting their immediate admission to the district hospital.

Following the distressing incident, the Animal Husbandry Department of the Municipal Corporation sprang into action, launching a campaign to address the escalating threat posed by stray dogs in the area. As part of their efforts, four stray dogs were apprehended and are currently undergoing observation at the sterilization center in Srinagar. Should any of the captured dogs test positive for rabies, both children will receive appropriate medical treatment.

The surge in stray dog populations, particularly in areas like Nizamuddin Galli, Gulmohar Colony, and New Gandhinagar, has raised concerns among residents.
