‘Udyami Aagu, Udyoga Needu’ (‘Be an Entrepreneur, Become an Employer’)

Program receives an overwhelming response in Belagavi, 11000 students participate

One week to one month of training in multiple sectors will be provided to students who register for the entrepreneurship program

To encourage the economically backward sections benefits like a 75% subsidy on 2 acres of the developed land will be provided not only to scheduled caste and scheduled tribes but to any economically weaker communities to take up entrepreneurship, start industries said Hon’ble Minister for Large and Medium Industries Dr. Murugesh R Nirani.

The Minister was speaking after inaugurating the ‘Udyami Aagu, Udyoga Needu’ (‘Be an Entrepreneur, Become an Employer’) a unique program aimed at attracting youth and professional students to entrepreneurship and employment generation. The program was organized by The Department of Industries and Commerce, Government of Karnataka at Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam auditorium at the Vishweshwaraiah Technological University today.

Dr. Murugesh R Nirani interacted with the students and urged them to start their own enterprises, become self-reliant and create numerous opportunities for themselves and others.

The daylong program aimed to provide a platform for technical students, youngsters to directly interact with successful entrepreneurs, and industry experts to gain knowledge, and learn about the various schemes and programs of the government. The event hosted also motivational sessions for students.

Students from 125 colleges in Belagavi and its revenue region districts – Dharwad, Uttara Kannada, Vijayapura, Bagalkote, Haveri, Jamakhandi, and Gadag, participated in the program through video conferencing.

The ‘Udyami Aagu, Udyoga Needu’ program received an overwhelming response and attracted huge participation from the students.

The Minister referred to Aravind Mellageri of Aequs and Vidya Murukumbi of Shree Renuka Sugars who strived hard at the start to establish their businesses to later become renowned business tycoons, can be a source of great inspiration to our students. The participants who have completed ITI, engineering and MBA, and other professional courses and seeking jobs will be provided with necessary training advice and guidance.

Initially, this program was kick-started by Sri Basavaraja Bommai, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Karnataka, in Bengaluru on October 11, 2021. Inspired by the success of the program held in Bengaluru, the program was recently held in the Kalburgi region.e. Bellary, Bidar, Kalburgi, Koppal, Raichur, Yadagir and Vijayanagar districts.

The program was attended by Abhay Kumar Patil, Member of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly, Eranna Kadadi, Member of Rajya Sabha, Muktar Hussain Pathan, Chairman of Karnataka Minorities Development Corporation (KMDC), M.G. Hiremath, Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate, Belgaum, Dr. E.V. Ramana Reddy, Additional Chief Secretary to Government, Commerce, and Industries, Department of Electronics Information Technology Biotechnology, Science & Technology, Ms. Gunjan Krishna, Commissioner for Industrial Development and Director of Industries and Commerce of Karnataka, Dr. N. Shivshankar, CEO, KIADB, H.M. Srinivas, Additional Director (MSME & PP), Department of Industries and Commerce, Doddabasavaraju, Managing Director, Karnataka Udyog Mitra, Bengaluru, Raghavendra Kagawad, RSS, Vidya Murukumbi, Chairperson, Shree Renuka Sugars, Arvind Mellageri, Chairman & CEO , Aequs, Dr. Karisiddappa Vice Chancellor, Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi.

Kaigarika Adalat:

The Kaigarika Adalat, a unique initiative to help industrialists and other stakeholders to resolve their grievances on the spot was held.

Grievances were heard by 15 departments including KIADB, KSSIDC, KSPCB, Labour, Factories and Boilers, Urban Development, Municipal Administration, and Fire Dept.

A total of 77 applications were received from various departments of the district and were addressed by the Minister and the concerned officials.

Technical sessions:

Mahesh Masal, Director, Connect, Dharwad, spoke on the subject of entrepreneurship
Dr. Singh, Senior Scientist, CSIR-CFTRI, Mysore Singh spoke on Food processing.
Professor C.A. Patil from Textile Engineering Institute provided information on Textile and readymade garments.

IH Casting Pvt. Anand Desai, Director of LTD shared his story.
Sri Veeranna SH, Director, Karnataka Entrepreneurship Development Center, Sidak, spoke on Entrepreneurship Development.

M. Srinivas, Additional Director, (MSME & PP) Department of Industry and Commerce
gave information on Government Policy & Planning.

Prof S M Sivaprasad, Director, Karnataka State Higher Education Academy, Dharwad, informed the students on technical innovation and skill development.

Successful entrepreneurs, Mr. Rohan Jawali of Ravi Industries, Belgaum, Mrs. Jyotsna Pai of Belgaum Pai Bakery, and IH Casting Pvt. Anand Desai, Director of LTD shared their success story. After the question-and-answer session, Doddabasavaraju, Managing Director of Karnataka Udyog Mitra delivered the vote of thanks.
