Vega from Belagavi set to become leading helmet producer in the world

The city of Belagavi has it’s own gems who have brought great name and fame to the city and one such brand thats has 35% share in the organised helmet market in the country is VEGA.

Vega Auto Accessories Pvt. Ltd, Udyambag Belagavi is one of the major helmet manufacturers in India, and is poised to become a leading producer in the world when its new plant at Belagavi goes on stream by 2020.

Currently it produces 12,000 helmets a day from its state of Art Infrastructure Across All Their 4 Manufacturing Plants: Udyambag Unit 2: Peeranwadi, Belagavi and 2 different units at Rudrapur, Uttarakhand.

Once the new plant is commissioned our per day capacity would reach 20,000 to 22,000 helmets making us the largest helmet manufacturers globally, said Dilip Chandak, Director Vega Auto Accessories Pvt. Ltd.

Speaking exclusively AAB, Chandak said that

We do have 35% market share in the country and in south India it is about 50%, which is a great fete. We still remember when we had begun this in 1982 where we manufactured about 500 helmets a day. We have adapted the latest in technology in all our departments helping us gain better management and also our designing team is in touch with the customers and we try to deliver what the market needs.

With a current dealer network of 500 we also plan to expand our presence to about 800 stores by 2020. We have been with success being exporting about 40% of our products to USA, Europe and Asian countries and we have adhered to all the quality control requisites of each country we export to. Recently we have turned our focus as to work as a major OEM (original equipment manufacturer) and contract manufacturer and we manufacture for major international brands.

‘Quality above Quantity’ has always been the motto in every stage of development at Vega. The quality features have been further reinforced with our advent into fiberglass and carbon fiber technology, which in turn has augmented our sales to great heights in the past two decades. They have enhanced their strong design and developmental capabilities backed by 3 well equipped manufacturing setups in India, all equipped with in-house design, machining, fabrication, assembly and testing facilities.

The company’s ideology of Safety coupled with Fashion has become a pioneer in promoting helmets as ‘Designer Head Gear’. Vega’s vast range has been approved by the Bureau of Indian Standards (ISI) 4151 -Standards and Specification vide 9526-1980.

The Vega group has also plans to commence operations of Allride.in in a fortnight which is a market place for the Bike rental service where vendors can register their bikes for rent from all over India which includes- metro cities as well as ruler parts of the country, to serve the need for work and travel to enjoy the destination’s and ride at very affordable price, easy to book and ride.

Chandak further speaking about diversification said that,

We now foresee a great scope in the aviation market and hence have Vega Aviation which is involved in high composite packaging cases for high-end electric and electronics equipment for defense, especially for MIG 21 and SU 30 fighter planes. Company has also got a certification from CEMILAC. Under the Make in India concept we have partnered with Defence Bioengineering and Electromedical Laboratory (DEBEL) to develop helmets for use by different streams of the defense forces. Recently we also developed facility for composite wing repairs .
