Villagers across 11 villages under the banner of Bhrastachar Nirmulan Samiti which is headed by noted social worker Shivaji Kagnikar has decided to file a PIL (Public interest Litigation) demanding a share of water from Rakaskop reservoir.
11 villages which fall under Belavatti, Badas and Rakaskop gram panchayats have decided to go ahead with the PIL as they feel neglected even when they have given their lands for the reservoir.
There is severe water crisis in these villages and they are not allowed use to the water from the reservoir for any purpose. This is nothing but injustice the Samiti members said.
Yarebail village, which is located just a km from the reservoir is completely depending on water tankers today as all the water sources have gone dry. Bijagarni get tap water once in eight days. Kavalewadi village, located just 3km from the reservoir, has lost all its sources of water.
None of the elected representatives have ever spoken about this hardship and the situation is worsening year after year.
