The NGO “Citizens for Society” organized a cleanliness drive in the heart of Belgaum city on 22nd Sept 2013. The drive began at Dr. Rajendra Prasad Circle-Samadevi Galli corner and reached upto Ganpat Galli corner at Nana Shankar Sheth Marg. About 45 members of the organization walked the street wearing the organizational uniform,masks and gloves in an attempt to create awareness regarding the responsibility of citizens in keeping the city clean. They collected trash from the road, packed it in bags which were later disposed in a municipal bin.
The rally is a part of the initiative of the organization that aims at “Educating for Change”. Student members from KLE Society’s BCA and KLE University’s Pharmacy College along with students from RPD BBA, participated. The members met the owners of business establishments in the region to spread the word regarding social responsibility.
The organization is involved actively in developing local vernacular medium schools and undertakes two such rallies a month to generate citizen involvement in social change.
