Workshop on Corporate Social Responsibility at KLS’ IMER, Belgaum

The Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in new form is targeting the Corporate World to be more socially responsible towards the society in which they are operating and drawing all their resources. The Ministry of Corporate Affairs has notified Section 135 and Schedule VII of the Companies Act 2013 which came into effect on April 1, 2014, through a notification dated 12th September 2014, mandates companies to formulate a CSR policy and incur a given minimum expenditure of two per cent of their three-year annual average net profit towards CSR activities.imer-csr-belgaum

KLS IMER and Centre for Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship, IIT Madras in association with TiE Hubli has organized one day workshop on Corporate Social Responsibility. The workshop addresses the core needs of the companies and equips them to perceive CSR through a strategic lens and align it to their core business objectives.

The workshop was inaugurated by Mr K P Parameshwarappa, Joint Director, DIC, Belgaum and Mr Ganapati Metri, Principal, Govt. tool room and training center Belgaum. Dr Purushottam Bung, Director of the Institute welcomes the gathering, Mr Rajendra Belgaumkar, Chairman Governing Council, Presented Bouquets and Mementoes to delegates and Dr Poornima M Charantimath Co-ordinator of the event presented the objectives of the workshop.

Mr Vinay Pawar, Executive Director TiE Hubli and Mr James Rajanayagam, Senir Project advisor IIT Madras were present. There were four sessions in the workshop:

Session 1: CSR- The need, the necessity, Practice and ABG Success model by Mr.R.S Balasubramanyam, Head CSR – Aditya Birla Nuvo Ltd.

Session 2: CSR – Companies Act 2013 by Mr. Ahalada Rao, Company Secretary, Hyderabad

Session 3: CSR as Stakeholder Management by Dr. M.P.Ganesh, Department of Management Studies, IIT Madras

Session 4: Role of Academic Institutions in supporting CSR initiatives by Mr.Joseph Thomas, Project consultant, CSIE- IIT Madras.

This Programme wass supported by: District Industries Centre (DIC) and Government Tool Room & Training Centre (GT & TC), Udyambag, Belgaum

More than 80 delegates from Industries / Entrepreneurs / Company Secretaries / HR and Professionals and Students attended the said Workshop.
