The International Centre for the Advancement of Manufacturing Technology (ICAMT) an International wing of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in association with GIT – MBA had organized a workshop on Intellectual property Rights (IPR) on Dec 27th 2013, The objective of the workshop was to spread awareness about the latest happenings in the field of IPR and help the participants to keep abreast and avail the benefits of the same
Dr. A.S Deshpande, Principal GIT in his welcome address said India is a land of opportunities, in a country like ours there is big scope for innovation, Inventions create a platform to take a leap in the bigger league, IPR ensures the flow of Innovations is smoothly channelized, growing economy is getting more and more complex, to keep updated one has to equip with latest practices and happenings, He exemplified.
Dr. Kalyan K, The Principal Resource Person for the workshop from UNIDO said, IPR are the tools to safe guard the interests of inventors, economic and knowledge power create and ensure greater success. Its vital to know about patents, copyrights, trademarks to have a place in the competitive economy, he emphasized.
Mr. Ram Bhandari, Managing Director, AKP foundries, Founder President, Belgaum Foundry Cluster was the Chief Guest of the workshop. In his talk, he said we must take the initiatives to ensure we grow with the business, IPR is a huge area by itself, and we need to make constant efforts to get empowered by acquiring the information pertaining to it. Hence let this be a platform of growth he said.
